Airport Hub: Record Growth

The Sicilian airport system has reached extraordinary numbers, consolidating the island’s position as the gateway to the Mediterranean. Catania Fontanarossa leads this growth with 12.3 million passengers in 2024 (a 15% increase), while Palermo Falcone Borsellino reached 8.9 million passengers (a 10% increase). Overall, Sicilian airports handled 21.2 million passengers in 2024.

The network of connections continues to expand with 30 operating companies and 97 total routes connecting Sicily to the world. Even smaller airports demonstrate remarkable dynamism: Trapani-Birgi has exceeded one million passengers, confirming the vitality of the entire airport system.
